We have several concerns. There is moisture in the basement, so we have a dehumidifier running constantly. The house is over 100 years old, so we believe the basement is a converted cellar. The walls appear to be a combination of brick and whatever material (plaster?) was applied over some areas. The wall is peeling and disintegrating in certain areas. We have also observed moisture seeping when there is a lot of rain or humidity. When we have flash rain storms, we also get water in the basement, but we believe it is from poor structure stemming from a conversion from a bulkhead to a normal door in the back of the house.
