Riverside, RI Crawl Space Encapsulation
Challenge
This crawl space in Riverside, RI had some concerns with falling, damp insulation and humidity. Dampness in the crawl space is a concern in any home. The organic materials in the space, like the wooden floor joists and supports, can absorb that moisture which can lead to mold growth and rot. Not wanting that in their basement, the owners gave us a call and our inspector was able to give them a recommended solution designed specifically for their home and concerns.
Solution
At the installation, the crew started by removing that damp insulation and debris in the space. Then, Drainage Matting was laid down to create a thermal break and prevent trapped moisture between the earth and CleanSpace vapor barrier. Before the vapor barrier was added, SilverGlo insulation was installed on the walls, keeping the temperature in the crawl space more controlled during the changes in seasons. After the CleanSpace encapsulated the crawl, a SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier was installed to absorb any humidity in the air, turning this space into a clean and healthy part of their home!
