Crawl Space Solutions in Newport, RI
Challenge
This homeowner gave us a call about the crawl space beneath their home in Newport, RI. It had an exposed dirt floor, no insulation, and water issues due to being located close to the ocean. Our inspector, Derek, went out to the home and did a full assessment of the crawl space, then he drew up a well-rounded solution for it. Derek's plan would be sure to leave the crawl space insulated, encapsulated, and completely waterproof!
Solution
On installation day, our foreman, Tomas, and his crew laid our drainage matting over the dirt floor to allow any water to flow under it instead of pooling inside. They insulated the space with our SilverGlo wall insulation and TerraBlock floor insulation to regulate temperature and they won't deteriorate over time like other insulations. The crew then fully encapsulated the crawl space with our CleanSpace vapor barrier. They also set up our SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier in the space to control humidity. The dehumidifier drains itself into the TripleSafe sump pump, which the crew installed to send all of the collected water out of the basement through two discharge lines. On the home's exterior, the IceGuard discharge line system was set up to prevent flooding if a discharge line ever clogs or freezes. Now the homeowner doesn't have to worry about their home's crawl space at all!
