Water Leaks Should Be Fixed ASAP - 3rd Post in the Buyers/Homeowners Common Link Series

Just to Recap This Blog Series

This is my third post within a blog series focusing on the disdain for wet basements that owners and buyers share and how we at Leader Basement Systems can address issues in a basement quickly to benefit the current homeowner and potential buyer. No one wants a wet basement, but it can be difficult for a homeowner to navigate when and how to address water when it hits the basement.

So, say there is a homeowner who has water every year. This is something I am seeing recently coming through our leads. But then the breaking point hits and there's more than just a leak the whole basement is resembling a bath tub. Of course, hindsight is 20/20, so besides just saying, "see, so-and-so should have just fixed that the moment there was a leak." I wonder how many people ever take care of any issue when the issue is just revealing itself. Perhaps the issue even comes and goes and isn't that prominent. I think most people aren't negligent but rather internalizing a conversation about whether this needs to be fixed ASAP- and that is what we will be discussing in this post.

How Do You Respond to House Troubles?

A basement water leak is never an enjoyable experience, I don't think anyone sits around happy when water starts to leak into the basement. So, when it happens and the homeowner has come down from the initial shock, it is now time to take some action. Depending on the homeowner, problems can either ellicit an avoidance or action response. Regardless of your personality, if you see water in your basement please call us at Leader Basement Systems to diagnose and remedy the issue(s).

Why We Don't Want to Fix Certain Things ASAP

I know it hurts the bank account, the vacation fund, the plans for the interior updates to make things look fabulous- fixing a wet basement isn't glamorous and isn't something that most people want to put on the to-do list.

There are always other things we want to and need to do. The basement tends to be out of sight and out of mind so it resides in the same spot on our to-do list as it does within your home: at the bottom.

I know I like to see change, I like to walk by the new desk and take it all in visually. It makes me feel good about buying it and I see the difference. When something like waterproofing a basement comes around it too can improve the aesthetic but it just isn't the same- it is fixing a problem we wish didn't exist in the first place.

Home repairs tend not to be less than $50 and since I am a new homeowner myself I don't care what it is at the house we just don't want to spend more than $50 at a time- TOTALLY unrealistic haha. It just gets overwhelming when you put so much up front and monthly and then have big repairs. So, I totally understand that pushing off another expense seems good right now but sometimes these expenses can grow and worsen. I don't say that to try to twist your arm but I say it because we are all people and we get the situation you are in- but we also understand the solution. Trust me, it is worth the price tag.

Let's Talk Price and Value

Our products aren't like cars that the prices go up and down, have new models each year at different prices and quotas, etc. Our products have a price and that is the price because it maintains its value.

However, the repair cost can become greater as time goes on because the damage can worsen, the product can go from having an issue to becoming totally dismantled, and so-on. Remember that if you see water in your basement it is a big deal and it will need repairs. Whether to make those repairs now or later is up to you. Right now, the repairs will be the cheapest price possible because problems tend not to repair themselves. In time, this water issue will more than likely worsen, and the price point will as well- not because we are increasing any numbers but because the repairs have changed.

Contact us today and we will gladly set an appointment for one of our System Design Specialists to come by and evaluate the source of the problem as well as the repairs.
