A homeowner in Norwell, MA gave us a call because their basement recently flooded with a ton of water despite having a sump pump. After the water was removed, there's still constant pooling around the sump pump and at the bottom of the bulkhead stairs. They were also noticing a strong mildew smell. We were more than happy to solve all of these issues for them and our inspector, Mike, went to the home and drew up a solution. Our crew installed our WaterGuard drainage system along the entirety of the floor's perimeter to collect groundwater. They put our TrenchDrain grated basement drain at the bottom of the bulkhead stairs to catch surface water, it is connected to the WaterGuard drainage system. All of that water is then channeled into the TripleSafe sump pump which sends all of the collected water out of the basement through the two discharge lines. The crew also set up our SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier in the basement to keep humidity low and eliminate the mildew smell. On the outside of the home, the IceGuard discharge line system was installed to prevent water from flooding back into the basement if a discharge line ever gets clogged or freezes in the winter. The homeowner is so relieved now that their entire basement is completely waterproof!
