Cranston, RI Basement Waterproofing Project
Challenge
This homeowner in Cranston, RI reached out to us because their partially finished basement was taking on water. They were looking to fully finish the basement but wanted to make sure it was completely waterproofed before making that investment. That's where we come in! One of our inspectors, Benny, went to the home to take a look at the basement and draw up a solution to the water issues. During his inspection, he noted that the oil tank and furnace are both located in the basement so he accounted for that in the waterproofing plan. It's very important to keep water away from both the oil tank and the furnace because it can cause major problems for the home if they get effected by water. Our inspectors and crew members are well versed in giving great care to these details, so the homeowner's basement and utilities were in great hands.
Solution
On installation day, our foreman, MJ, and his crew were ready to waterproof this basement! They began by installing our CleanSpace vapor barrier two feet up each wall as well as beneath the oil tank to act as a vapor barrier. Then, along the perimeter of the basement floor they installed our WaterGuard drainage system and carefully went around the oil tank to keep it safe from water. Around the outside of the furnace, they installed our TrenchDrain grated basement drain to manage excess water and keep the furnace area dry. The WaterGuard and TrenchDrain are connected and channel the water they collect into the TripleSafe sump pump, which was installed in the lowest area of the basement floor. The TripleSafe pumps all of the water collected by the system out of the basement through the discharge lines. On the outside of the home, the crew set up our IceGuard discharge line system which works to prevent flooding in case a discharge line gets clogged or freezes. The homeowner is so excited to finish their basement now that they know it is completely waterproof and protected by DryZone!
