Dorchester, MA Basement Waterproofing
Challenge
A landlord in Dorchester, MA reached out to us because the three unit apartment building they oversee was getting water in the basement. One of our sales inspectors, Mike, went to the apartment building to assess the basement's water issues and drew up a plan that would keep it dry going forward. Since this basement is beneath a three story apartment building, there's a lot of utilities that need to be accounted for, like the electrical boxes for each unit and various pipes. The tenants also store some of their belongings in the basement so it is important that those items are protected from water as well. Mike's solution was very detailed about these obstacles so when installation day came, it was smooth sailing for our crew.
Solution
Foreman Lucio and his crew arrived on installation day ready to make Mike's plan a reality. They started by installing our CleanSpace vapor barrier along each wall to corral the water attempting to come in through the walls into the WaterGuard drainage system. While installing the CleanSpace, the crew was very careful to measure and cut it perfectly to fit behind the pipes, around the electrical boxes, and in the basement window. The WaterGuard was then installed along the floor's perimeter to collect groundwater. All of that water is then channeled into our SuperSump Plus sump pump system. The SuperSump Plus sends all of the collected water out of the basement through the discharge line. On the outside of the home, the IceGuard discharge line system was set up to prevent water from flooding back into the basement if the discharge line ever gets clogged or freezes in the winter. The landlord and tenants now feel relieved knowing that the utilities and their belongings are safe from water!
