Basement Makeover in Milton, MA
Challenge
This family in Milton, MA knew that they wanted to finish their basement to add some desired space to their home, but a history of water in the basement was slowing them down. We initially had assisted them in addressing the main area of concern a few years back, but with knowing how big of an investment finishing was, they wanted to be sure they were fully protected. Our inspector took a look at the existing set up and made a game plan with the homeowners on how we could help protect their investment!
Solution
The first phase was completing the system. We connected the existing WaterGuard so that it went around the whole basement, that meant every wall was protected from that seepage at the foundation seam. Next, our team installed CleanSpace Wall. This vapor barrier is a must if you are finishing your basement! Any moisture or seepage from the walls will be contained, away from any drywall which can get moldy and rot with excess moisture exposure, and directed into the WaterGuard for removal via the sump pump. Finally, after the walls were up, our team installed Elite Plank Flooring and it looks great! Our flooring is made of inorganic materials so if any moisture were to get underneath, from say an appliance leak, the planks won't buckle and can be easily removed and replaced to dry out the area. This big project turned into a huge success!
