Dirt Basement Transformation in Douglas, MA
Challenge
There was a home in Douglas, MA that was getting water seeping in through their stone basement walls. After heavy rains, they were almost guaranteed to get puddling on their dirt floor. Our inspector went out to take a look at the space and discuss options for making the basement dry and usable.
Solution
Since the walls are stone and the floor is dirt, the crew wrapped the basement in our CleanSpace vapor barrier to seal moisture out of the basement. Underneath the vapor barrier, StarPipe was installed in the dirt floor to collect water. StarPipe has a shield around the pipe to stop debris and dirt from getting in and clogging the pipes. The pipes were connected to a TripleSafe sump pump that will remove the collected water from the basement. They also installed a SaniDry Sedona Dehumidifier and Aspen Air Purifier. These systems will absorb moisture from the air and purify it, making the basement dry and healthy!
