Crawl Space Waterproofing in Newport, RI
Challenge
This new homeowner in Newport, RI was starting to notice that the space beneath their home was pretty damp, humid, and showed signs of mold growth. This crawl space in particular was pretty large because it spanned beneath the entire house, so it was important to get it taken care of because it was negatively affecting the living area of the home. Since the crawl space was originally built with stone walls and a dirt floor, it wasn't necessarily a surprise that it was becoming weathered. When water enters a space with those conditions, problems like mold tend to pop up over time. When one of our inspectors, Steve, went out to take a look at the crawl space, he drew up a solution to waterproof the space and shared it with the homeowner.
Solution
On installation day, Foreman Kervin and his crew arrived at the home ready to bring Steve's plan to life! The crew installed our SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier and our TripleSafe sump pump in the crawl space. The SaniDry Sedona collects all of the moisture in the air and drains it into the TripleSafe. The TripleSafe takes the water collected by the dehumidifier, as well as the groundwater, and sends it out of the crawl space through the discharge lines. The IceGuard discharge line system was installed on the outside of the home to prevent flooding from a clogged or frozen line. The crew also fully encapsulated the crawl space with our CleanSpace vapor barrier. The CleanSpace seals off the crawl space from being impacted by outside weather. With the crawl space fully encapsulated and the TripleSafe, SaniDry Sedona, and IceGuard in place, the homeowner no longer has to worry about their crawl space being affected by water or growing mold. They are free to fully enjoy their new home!
