Encapsulating a Basement in Jamestown, RI
Challenge
This homeowner in Jamestown, RI reached out us about their basement because it had an exposed dirt floor and fieldstone walls that were starting to take a toll on the comfortability of the rest of the home. The exposed floor and walls were effecting the home's temperature and also inviting excess moisture into the space. Our inspector, Josh, went out to the home and assessed the basement, then he drew up a solution.
Solution
On installation day, our foreman, MJ, and his crew first laid down our drainage matting over the basement's dirt floor. On top of the drainage matting, they installed our TerraBlock floor insulation to regulate temperature throughout the space. Then they fully encapsulated the basement with our CleanSpace vapor barrier to seal off the space from the outside earth which will also help with the excess moisture. Now the homeowner can feel much better about their home's basement and they'll notice a positive difference in their home!
