Damp Dirt Basement in Hyde Park, MA
Challenge
The dirt basement of this Hyde Park, MA home was causing some concerns for the homeowners. They would have water and dampness after rain, leading to musty smells, as well as some structural concerns after noticing the floor above had sunk a few inches! Ready to make moves on this project, the owners took advantage of our online appointment booking and got our inspector out for a free estimate to find out what this project would look like for them to take on.
Solution
Once the project was determined, the crew got to work encapsulating the basement with our CleanSpace vapor barrier. This will keep moisture from the earth out of the basement, protecting the organic materials from rot and mold growth. Since there was some existing moisture, the wooden support columns needed some help, and SmartJack columns were installed. These columns are made from galvanized steel so they won’t rot and will hold strong for many years! Another layer of protection against moisture is our SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier, which will absorb any water vapor in the air and remove it, leaving the space dry!
