Crawl Space Project on Martha's Vineyard
Challenge
Even on the vacation island of Martha’s Vineyard, the homes there deal with similar problems with those on the mainland! This home in Chilmark had a humid crawl space that was concerning the homeowner since they knew it could lead to bigger issues over the years, like mold and rot. After calling around, they found our team goes out to the islands, and we were able to add this home to the next Martha’s Vineyard trip for a free inspection! Our representative did a thorough inspection and proposed an encapsulation with a dehumidifier to reduce the moisture and humidity.
Solution
Once the work was agreed on and our crew could get out to the island, they got to work! The debris was cleaned out and they lined the floor of the crawl space first with drainage matting to create a cushion and thermal break over the ground. Then CleanSpace was laid over and sealed up the walls to create a vapor barrier. This barrier will keep moisture out of the space, and any other moisture or humidity will be removed by the SaniDry Sedona dehumidifier. The Sedona is also self-emptying, so no need to get in the crawl space to clean it out, though a crawl space like that doesn’t seem so bad to be in!
