Fixing a Sinking Foundation in Kingston, MA
Challenge
This homeowner in Kingston, MA reached out to us because one corner of their home's foundation appeared to be sinking into the earth due to settlement over time. Our inspector, Nick, went out to the home and did a full assessment of the home's foundation. He confirmed where the settlement was happening and drew up a plan on how to put a stop to it.
Solution
On installation day, our foreman, Eric, and his crew got to work! They installed our Helical Pier system beneath the sinking corner on the outside of the home. The Helical Piers are driven deep into the soil beneath the foundation to stop the settlement problems. They were then able to lift the foundation back to its original position, reversing the sinkage that had already happened. Once the Helical Piers were in place, the crew backfilled the soil that was removed during installation, leaving the home looking how it did before we arrived, but now it's structurally sound!
